ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH
What Happened
The ignition switch in your vehicle is the part that turns on the engine. In certain cases, it can overheat and catch fire if you hold the key in the 'start' position for too long.
Risk if Unfixed
If the switch overheats and catches fire, it could spread to the interior of your car, putting you and your passengers at risk of injury or causing damage to surrounding structures.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealer will install a protective relay kit to prevent overheating and replace the ignition switch if necessary, all free of charge. You'll receive a notification on March 1, 2004, and should contact the dealer to schedule the repair as soon as possible.
