What Happened
The tailgate actuator is a small metal part that helps keep your tailgate securely locked. In some 2015-2017 RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks, this part can break, causing the tailgate to suddenly unlatch.
Risk if Unfixed
If the tailgate opens while driving, your cargo could spill out onto the road, creating a hazard for other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will fix the problem by repairing or replacing the tailgate actuator, free of charge. This repair should be done as soon as possible to keep you and other road users safe.
