What Happened
The trim panel in your Versa's center console is designed to cover the area between the accelerator and brake pedals. In some cases, this panel can catch your shoe, causing a delay when you switch from the accelerator to the brake pedal.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you'll need to press the brake pedal a little further before it starts working properly. This could increase the distance it takes to stop your vehicle, which could lead to a collision.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will modify the trim panel to prevent it from catching your shoe, and this repair is free. You should schedule the fix as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Nissan Versa sedan vehicles manufactured June 9, 2011, to March 11, 2015, and 2014-2015 Nissan Versa Note vehicles manufactured April 23, 2013, to March 11, 2015. The affected vehicles have a center console trim panel that may catch the driver's shoe and delay the transition from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal.
