Component

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened
The part that controls how far your accelerator pedal moves is called the accelerator pedal assembly. In some 2012-2015 Nissan Versa sedans and 2014-2015 Versa Notes, this assembly can be damaged by the center console, causing you to accidentally press the wrong pedal.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you might accidentally press the accelerator pedal when you mean to hit the brake pedal. This could make it harder to stop your vehicle, increasing the risk of a collision.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will modify the center console to prevent this issue, and the repair is free of charge. You should contact them to schedule the fix as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Nissan Versa sedan vehicles manufactured June 9, 2011, to March 11, 2015, and 2014-2015 Nissan Versa Note vehicles manufactured April 23, 2013, to March 11, 2015. The affected vehicles have a center console trim panel that may catch the driver's shoe and delay the transition from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A delay in the application of the brake pedal would lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will modify the console trim panel, free of charge. The recall began on September 14, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
