Manufacturer
MITSUBISHI AMERICA
What Happened
The retaining clip screw is a small part that holds the parking brake shoe in place. It can become brittle and break off, making it hard for your parking brake to hold the car in place.
Risk if Unfixed
If the screw head breaks off, your parking brake might drag or fail to hold the car, which could cause one of the rear wheels to lock up on wet or snowy roads, leading to a loss of control.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the retaining clip screw and inspect the rear brake system to make sure there's no related damage. If they find any damage, they'll fix it too, all at no cost to you.
