What Happened
The steering column in your Kia Rio or Forte is the long rod that connects your steering wheel to the wheels. In some 2021-2022 models, a critical bolt that holds this column together might not be tightened properly, which can make it come loose while driving.
Risk if Unfixed
If the steering column detaches, you'll lose control of your vehicle's direction, which could make it harder to steer and increase the risk of a crash.

Original — What Happened
Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Rio and Forte vehicles. A bolt in the steering column may not be secured properly, which can cause the steering column to detach from the steering rack and result in a loss of steering control.
