What Happened
The gear position indicator on your Jeep shows you which gear you're in, like Park, Drive, or Reverse. In some 2022-2024 Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer models, the indicator might not show the correct gear, which can be confusing.
Risk if Unfixed
If the gear position indicator is wrong, you might not know when you're in gear. This could cause you to shift into gear unintentionally, making your vehicle roll away or move unexpectedly, and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Jeep dealer will update the software in your shifter module for free. This update should happen as soon as you get the recall notice, and it'll ensure your gear position indicator works correctly.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2023 Jeep Wagoneer, 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, and Jeep Wagoneer L vehicles. A software error may cause the transmission gear selection indicator not to display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission shift lever sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect."

Dealers will update the shifter module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 21, 2026. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 30D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning July 9, 2026.
