What Happened
The wiring harness in your Mustang is a network of electrical wires that connects various systems like the engine, lights, and cooling fan. In some 2024-2026 models, these wires can break, disrupting power to critical systems.
Risk if Unfixed
If the wiring harness fails, you could lose power to your vehicle, making it harder to control. You might also lose headlight function or windshield washing, which could reduce your visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the faulty wiring harness ground terminals with new ones, free of charge. You'll receive a recall notice with instructions to schedule the repair, and it's best to do so as soon as you get the notice.

Original — What Happened
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Mustang vehicles. The engine compartment wiring harness ground connections may fracture and result in a loss of drive power, or a loss of function in the windshield washing system, headlights, air conditioning, or engine cooling fan. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment," and 104, "Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems."

A loss of driver power increases the risk of a crash. In addition, a loss of headlight function or windshield washing system function can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed August 31, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in March 2027. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C40.
