Component

FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM

Manufacturer
CHRYSLER LLC
What Happened
Your vehicle's fuel gauge is the part that shows you how much gas you have left. In some 2009 Sebring and Dodge Avenger models with a 2.4L engine, the gauge can give you a wrong reading, making you think you have more gas than you actually do.
Risk if Unfixed
If you drive on an empty tank because of a faulty gauge, you could run out of fuel without warning. This could cause you to lose power and control of your vehicle, leading to a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty fuel pump module with a new one, free of charge. This repair is expected to start in March 2009, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.

CHRYSLER IS RECALLING 91 MY 2009 SEBRING AND DODGE AVENGER EQUIPPED WITH 2.4L ENGINE PASSENGER VEHICLES. A COMPATIBILITY ISSUE BETWEEN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SOFTWARE AND FUEL PUMP MODULE CAN RESULT IN THE FUEL GAUGE OVERSTATING THE ACTUAL FUEL TANK LEVEL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE MAY RUN OUT OF FUEL WHEN THE GAUGE INDICATES THAT THERE IS STILL FUEL REMAINING IN THE TANK.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP MODULE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM)

Manufacturer
CHRYSLER LLC
What Happened
The power train control module, or PCM, is the brain of your transmission system. It helps your car shift gears smoothly. In some 2009 models, a new adhesive used to make the PCM can cause it to break, like a brittle twig.
Risk if Unfixed
If the PCM fails, your engine could stall without warning, leaving you without power steering and brakes. This could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Chrysler dealer will replace the faulty power train control module with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible when you receive the recall notice.
