What Happened
The Virtual Cockpit Unit Module is like a computer brain that controls your dashboard display. In some 2024 Buick Encore GX, Envista, and Chevrolet Trax models, this computer might not work properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the dashboard display goes blank while you're driving, you might not see important info like your speed or warning lights, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
A dealer or a software update will fix the problem by updating the VCU software, and it's completely free. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice, or contact Buick or Chevrolet customer service if you have any questions.

Original — What Happened
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024 Buick Encore GX, Envista, and Chevrolet Trax vehicles. The software in the Virtual Cockpit Unit Module (VCU) may cause the instrument panel display to intermittently go blank at vehicle startup or while driving.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A blank instrument panel will not show critical information, such as vehicle speed and warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
The VCU software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 4, 2023. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is A232424320.
