What Happened
The rear suspension on your motorcycle has a small lever that helps it absorb bumps. One of the bolts holding this lever in place could come loose, affecting how your bike handles.
Risk if Unfixed
If the bolt comes loose, your motorcycle could be harder to control, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will tighten the bolt to the right specification and replace it if necessary, all at no cost to you. You'll receive a notice with instructions on when to schedule the repair.

Original — What Happened
BMW North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 S 1000 RR motorcycles manufactured June 8, 2016, to November 16, 2016, and 2017 S 1000 R motorcycles manufactured on October 12, 2016. One of the bolts on the rear suspension deflection lever may loosen and adversely affect the handling of the motorcycle.

If the bolt loosens and affects the motorcycle's handling, there may be an increased risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the bolts and tighten them to the proper specifications, free of charge. The recall began February 17, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
