Component

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The software in your BMW M5's engine control unit is like the brain of your car's engine. In some 2018 models, this software can cause the fuel pump to stop working.
Risk if Unfixed
If the fuel pump stops, your vehicle will stall, and you'll lose power steering and power brakes. This could make it hard to control your vehicle and increase the chance of a collision.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the engine control unit software for free, which should fix the issue. This repair is on the house, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
