What Happened
The seal in your bike's reverse gear control unit helps keep it dry. However, in some 2017-2025 K 1600 GT and 2018-2025 Grand America models, this seal can break down and let water inside.
Risk if Unfixed
If the control unit gets too hot, it could catch fire, which could cause a serious accident or injury.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the reverse gear control unit with a new one, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair once you receive the recall notice, and you can contact BMW customer service if you have any questions.
