What Happened
The fuel pump flange in your motorcycle is a crucial seal that keeps fuel inside the tank. In some 2005-2012 models, this seal can crack and start leaking fuel.
Risk if Unfixed
If fuel leaks out and meets an ignition source, it could spark a fire, which could put you at risk of serious injury or damage.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will either reinforce the fuel pump flange or replace the pump with a new one – at no cost to you. They'll take care of the repair as soon as possible, and you should schedule an appointment as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2005-2011 model year R-model motorcycles, model year 2005-2012 K-model motorcycles, model year 2010-2011 S 1000 model motorcycles, and model year 2006-2010 HP2 motorcycles. In the affected motorcycles, the fuel pump flange (and the auxiliary fuel pump flange if equipped) could develop cracks and leak fuel.
