What Happened
The rear reflex reflectors on your vehicle are the small lights at the back that help other drivers see your car at night. In your 2013 5 Series, these reflectors might not be reflecting enough light.
Risk if Unfixed
If your vehicle isn't reflecting enough light, other drivers may have a harder time seeing you at night, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the rear reflex reflectors with new ones that work properly, and this repair is free for you. You'll get a notification from BMW, and you should schedule the repair as soon as you can.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2013 528i, 528i xDrive, 535i, 535i xDrive, 550i, 550i xDrive, and ActiveHybrid 5 vehicles. The rear reflex reflectors may not reflect enough light. As such, the vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
