Component
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The air bag in your driver's side is a crucial safety device that inflates in a crash to cushion your body. In some older 3 Series BMWs, the original air bag inflator was replaced with a different type that could burst during deployment.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens while you're driving, sharp metal fragments could fly towards you and the people around you, causing serious injuries or even death.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will check your driver's air bag module and replace it if necessary – for free. You'll receive a letter about the recall, but you can also contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule the repair.
