Component
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The airbag inflator in your steering wheel is designed to deploy in the event of a crash, but in some older 3 Series models, it could explode and send sharp metal fragments flying.
Risk if Unfixed
If the inflator explodes, it could cause severe injury or even death from metal shrapnel hitting you or your passengers.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect and replace your airbag module if necessary, and the repair is completely free – you won't pay a thing. You should schedule the inspection as soon as you get the recall notice.
