What Happened
The knee bolster under your dashboard is a safety feature that helps absorb impact in a crash. In certain vehicles, it's possible for your knees to accidentally touch the wiring harness and cause a short circuit.
Risk if Unfixed
If a short circuit happens, it could start a fire in the left side of your dashboard. This could spread quickly and cause serious damage to your car.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will install a protective covering on the knee bolster to prevent the short circuit, and also check the wiring harness and dashboard protector for damage. If needed, they'll replace these parts at no cost to you.
