BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The rearview camera system in your Audi uses a camera to show you what's behind your vehicle when you're backing up. However, in certain models, a software glitch could prevent this camera image from showing up on your screen.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rearview image doesn't display, you'll have a reduced view of what's behind your vehicle, making it more likely you could back into something or someone.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will update the software to fix the issue, and this repair is free. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice, and you can contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 for more information.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The rearview camera system in your vehicle is a critical safety feature that displays a live image of the area behind your car when you're in reverse. Due to a software error, this image may not appear when you start reversing in certain 2021 and 2022 Audi models, including the A8, A5, and Q5.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rearview camera doesn't show you what's behind your vehicle when you're reversing, you'll be relying on your mirrors and eyesight alone — which could increase the risk of a crash, especially in tight spaces or when children are around.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will update the software in your infotainment system, ensuring the rearview camera works correctly. This update is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as possible to maintain your safety on the road.
