Component
AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION
Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The sensor in your car is like a brain that figures out if there's a person in the passenger seat. In some 2015-2019 Audi models, this sensor might get a false reading, which could disable the air bag that's meant to protect the passenger.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag is disabled, it won't deploy in a crash, which means the passenger could be more likely to get hurt.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will fix the sensor issue by replacing the connector and rewiring the system – all for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.
