EXTERIOR LIGHTING Safety Recalls

Critical #02V119000 Plain English
Component

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH

Manufacturer
AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.
What Happened
The brake light switch on your vehicle is a small part that controls when your brake lights turn on. During manufacturing, a small amount of oil was applied to the brake pedal assembly to prevent rust, but this oil can leak into the switch and cause problems.
Risk if Unfixed
If the oil gets into the switch, your brake lights won't turn on when you press the brake pedal, which increases the risk of a crash because other drivers may not see you're slowing down.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealer will clean the brake pedal assembly and replace the brake light switch for free, so schedule a service appointment as soon as you receive the recall notice and get this safety fix done.

Original — Risk if Unfixed
EVENTUALLY, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, WHICH INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL CLEAN ANY EXCESS OIL FROM THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY AND REPLACE THE STOP SWITCH. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 16, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.
