What Happened
The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) label on your vehicle shows how much weight your axles can handle. Unfortunately, some Subaru models, including your Crosstrek Hybrid, Forester, or Ascent, have a label with incorrect information.
Risk if Unfixed
If the weight capacity is wrong, you might overload your vehicle, which could cause a stability issue and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Subaru will send you a corrected label for free, and you can choose to have it installed by a dealer at no cost. Just wait for the letter they'll mail to you on August 25, 2026, and then follow their instructions.

Original — What Happened
Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid, 2025-2026 Forester Hybrid, Forester, and 2019-2026 Ascent vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured with an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) on the certification label. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 110, "Tire selection and rims."

Original — Remedy
Subaru will mail a new certification label to owners, free of charge. Owners may also choose to have a dealer install the new label, free of charge. Letters informing owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed August 25, 2026. Additional letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Subaru's number for this recall is WRH-26.
