What Happened
The gear position indicator on your instrument panel shows you which gear your ID.4 or Q4 e-Tron is in. In some 2021-2023 models, this display might not work correctly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the gear position indicator fails, you might not know if your vehicle is in park or drive when the parking brake isn't engaged. This could cause your vehicle to roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Volkswagen or Audi dealer will update the brake control unit software to fix the issue, free of charge. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice.
