What Happened
The side air bag cover in your 2 Series Coupe is a small panel that protects the air bag from damage. In some 2023 models, this panel can break when the side air bag deploys.
Risk if Unfixed
If this panel breaks when the side air bag goes off, it could cause the air bag to inflate differently than it should, which increases the risk of injury to the people sitting in the back seats.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty side air bag cover panels with new ones, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.
