If a cover panel breaks, your side air bag might not work as it should, which could lead to serious injury to passengers in the back seats.

VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The power window and sunroof system in your vehicle uses a digital key to control the windows and sunroof. In some 2023 8 Series and 2022-2023 Z4 models, the system might not respect the key's presence when it's removed.
Risk if Unfixed
If the digital key is taken out of your vehicle, your windows and sunroof could close on their own, which could cause injury to people inside the car.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the vehicle's software at no charge. This will ensure the power windows and sunroof only respond to the digital key when it's present. You'll receive a letter with instructions on when to schedule the update.
