SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE
What Happened
The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) is the brain of your vehicle's anti-lock braking system. It's a computer that helps your brakes work smoothly. In certain 2014-2018 Kia models, this unit can fail and cause an electrical short.
Risk if Unfixed
If the HECU fails, it could spark a fire in your engine compartment. This could happen while you're parked or driving, and could lead to serious injury.
Free Fix
Your Kia dealer will replace a fuse for the HECU circuit board, which will prevent a potential fire. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as possible after receiving the recall notice.
