What Happened
The sidewall of your tire is the part that makes it flexible and able to withstand the road. In some 2020-2021 Atlas Cross Sport and 2021 Atlas vehicles, the sidewall might have been made too stiff, which could cause it to crack or break.
Risk if Unfixed
If your sidewall breaks, the air could leak out of your tire suddenly, or the tread could separate from the rest of the tire. This could cause you to lose control of your vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Volkswagen dealer will check your tires to see if they're affected, and if so, they'll replace them with new ones at no cost to you. You'll be notified when the repair is ready, and you should schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
