What Happened
The latch on your Focus hatchback's liftgate is the mechanism that keeps your cargo secure. In some 2013-2017 models, it's possible to open the hatch with just one press of the release button, instead of the usual two.
Risk if Unfixed
If the latch doesn't work properly, you could accidentally open the hatch while driving, which could lead to passengers in the back being thrown around inside the car. This could cause injuries, especially for those who aren't buckled up.
