What Happened
Your Honda Odyssey's Vehicle Safety Assist System, which helps prevent accidents, uses a combination of software and sensors to control the brakes. But in some 2007-2008 models, the system could kick in unexpectedly, applying the brakes without warning.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your vehicle may brake suddenly and hard without warning, without even flashing the brake lights. This could cause a rear-end collision, which could put you and others at risk.
Free Fix
For now, Honda is sending you an advisory letter explaining how to avoid unintended braking. When the replacement parts become available, a second letter will be sent and your dealer will update the system's software free of charge.
