What Happened
The fuel filter heater is a part in your X5's diesel system that warms up the fuel when it's cold. In some 2009-2010 models, it can overheat and stay on even when you turn off the engine.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your battery could drain, leaving you stranded, and the heater could overheat, potentially causing a fire.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty fuel filter heater with a new one, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.
