Component
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP
What Happened
Your vehicle has a part called the fuel filler pipe, which is like a long, thin tube that connects your fuel tank to the fuel opening on the side of your vehicle. Water and debris can get trapped in a protective cover around this pipe, causing it to rust.
Risk if Unfixed
If the pipe corrodes badly, it could crack and start leaking fuel when you fill up your tank. If there's an open flame nearby, like a cigarette or a spark from the vehicle, it could ignite the fuel and cause a fire.
Free Fix
Your dealership will replace the fuel filler neck with a new one that's designed to prevent corrosion, free of charge. You should schedule the repair once you receive the recall notice.
