What Happened
The passenger airbag in your vehicle is designed to inflate in case of a crash to protect the person sitting in the passenger seat. But in certain situations, the airbag may not deploy if the person's weight or position is misinterpreted by the sensor, which is connected to the seat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the airbag doesn't deploy in a crash, you could be at serious risk of injury, possibly severe, on the right side of your body.
Free Fix
Your dealer will reprogram the occupant classification sensor to ensure it accurately detects the passenger's presence and weight, so the airbag will deploy as designed when needed. This fix is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
