What Happened
Your vehicle's engine fan, which helps keep the engine cool, is controlled by a computer. The fan's motor can fail, causing the fan to stop working.
Risk if Unfixed
If the fan stops working, your engine could overheat and be damaged, and there's also a small chance of a fire in the engine compartment.
Free Fix
You should take your vehicle to a BMW dealer, who will replace the fan for free, starting from September 28, 2001. If you don't get the repair done within a reasonable time, call BMW at 1-800-831-1117.
