What Happened
The fuel filter fitting is a small part that connects the fuel filter to your fuel system. In some 2002 Sport Utility Vehicles, this fitting can come loose and stop your engine from starting.
Risk if Unfixed
If the fitting comes loose while you're driving, your engine could stall, causing a loss of power steering assist. If there's a spark nearby, fuel could leak out and cause a fire.

How to Get This Fixed

Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty fuel filter quick connect retainers for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, and if you encounter any issues, contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, GMC at 1-800-462-8782, or Oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537.
