Component
EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH
What Happened
Your vehicle's multifunction switch could develop an open circuit, causing your brake lights and rear hazard lights to stop working. This switch is controlled by a small carrier that's located near your parking brake.
Risk if Unfixed
If your brake and hazard lights aren't working, other drivers might not know when you're slowing down or stopped, which could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
You're entitled to a free replacement of the hazard switch carrier at an authorized dealership. They'll contact you in two phases, starting April 15, 2002, and you can schedule a service date to get it fixed without charge. If it takes too long, call Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, GMC at 1-800-462-8782, or Oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537.
