Original — What Happened
Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2004-2007 Mazda3 vehicles. During air bag deployment, the plastic emblem on the steering wheel air bag module cover may shatter, and project plastic fragments into the vehicle.

There's a potential issue with your vehicle's frontal air bag sensor. Water can get inside the sensor through a small crack in its housing, causing it to malfunction.

If this happens, the air bag might not work properly in a frontal crash, which could lead to serious injury or death for you or your front seat passenger.
