What Happened
Your vehicle's rearview camera is an important safety feature that shows you what's behind your car when you put it in reverse. But in some 2022-2025 Lexus and 2023-2026 Toyota vehicles, the camera image might not appear when you're backing up.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rearview camera image doesn't show when you're reversing, you'll have a reduced view of what's behind your vehicle. This increases the risk of a crash, especially when backing into or out of spaces.
Free Fix
Your Lexus or Toyota dealer will update the camera software or replace the camera if needed, all at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as you receive the recall notice, and you can contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331 for more information.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
