What Happened
The Air Bag Control Unit in your vehicle is a critical safety system that makes sure your airbags deploy in an accident. In some 2017-2019 Kia models, a cover on this unit could short-circuit and disable your airbags.
Risk if Unfixed
If your airbags don't deploy as they should in a crash, you're at greater risk of serious injury. This is a life-critical issue that demands prompt attention.
Free Fix
Your Kia dealer will inspect the Air Bag Control Unit and update or replace it as needed – at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible, especially if you've received the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Sedona, Soul, Soul EV, 2017-2018 Forte, and 2017 Forte Koup vehicles. Original — Remedy
Dealers will inspect the ACU, and either update the software or replace the unit, as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 21, 2022. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC226.
