SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE
Manufacturer
Kia America, Inc.
What Happened
The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) in your vehicle is like a computer that helps control your brakes. If it's faulty, it can cause an electrical short, which is like a spark that can ignite nearby flammable materials in the engine compartment.
Risk if Unfixed
If the HECU short circuits, it could cause a fire in the engine compartment while you're parked or driving. This increases the risk of serious injury or damage to your vehicle.
Free Fix
Your Kia dealer will replace the HECU fuse with a new one for free. In the meantime, you should park your vehicle outside and away from buildings until the repair is done.
