What Happened
The fuel filter in your vehicle has a quick connector that can leak fuel if not properly attached. This could happen if you tightened it, but it's not fully secure.
Risk if Unfixed
If the connection leaks, fuel could spill out and, if there's an ignition source nearby, a fire could start.
Free Fix
Your fuel filter will be replaced with a new one that's designed to connect securely, and the repair is completely free. Your dealer will contact you to schedule the replacement, or you can reach out to UFI Filters USA at 800-230-5876 to get started.

CERTAIN AFTERMARKET FUEL FILTERS SOLD UNDER THE PUROLATOR BRAND NAME, P/N F65277, SHIPPED FROM JANUARY 16 THROUGH JUNE 2, 2006, FOR USE ON THE ABOVE LISTED PASSENGER VEHICLES. DUE TO INCORRECT DESIGN, THE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY NOT FULLY SEAT WITH THE TUBE INTERFACE, EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON MAKING THE CONNECTION MAY BELIEVE THAT THE QUICK CONNECTOR IS FULLY ATTACHED.

What Happened
Your Freestar or Monterey has a third row seat that can fold up when not in use. Over time, the metal parts that hold this seat in place can corrode and weaken, making the seat less secure.
Risk if Unfixed
If your seat isn't securely latched and you get rear-ended in a crash, it could move freely and increase the risk of injury to you or your passengers.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will install new, corrosion-resistant parts to secure your third row seat, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Ford is recalling certain model year 2004-2007 Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles manufactured from March 24, 2003, through November 7, 2006, equipped with a third row seat and originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. The third row stowable seat can experience corrosion and structural degradation at the seat anchor mechanism mounted to the rear wheel wells. As a result of the corrosion, the third row seat may not fully latch into its seating position.

In the event that the vehicle is crashed into from the rear, an unlatched seat may increase the risk of personal injury.
Original — Remedy
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new third row seat latch striker mounting brackets, free of charge. The recall began on March 28, 2013. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

The power liftgate motor in your van is the part that helps open and close the liftgate. In certain models, this motor can stop working unexpectedly while the liftgate is open.
Risk if Unfixed
If the liftgate motor fails, the liftgate can drop suddenly without warning, potentially hitting anyone standing beneath it and causing injury.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will update the liftgate module's software to prevent a sudden drop, and this service is free of charge. You should schedule the update as soon as you receive the recall notice.
