Component
STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
Manufacturer
General Motors, LLC
What Happened
The electric power steering system in your vehicle is like a computer-controlled assist that helps you steer. In certain 2016-2018 models, this system could fail, making it harder to steer, especially at slow speeds.
Risk if Unfixed
If the power steering fails, you'll need to work harder to steer, especially when parking or navigating tight spaces. This could increase the risk of a crash, especially in low-speed situations.
Free Fix
Your dealership will replace the power steering gear assembly with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, and it's free for you.
