SUSPENSION:REAR

Manufacturer
General Motors, LLC
What Happened
The rear toe links in your vehicle help keep your wheels straight and stable. In some 2010-2013 Buick Lacrosse, Regal, and Chevrolet Malibu models, the protective coating on these links might not be strong enough, so it could break off if you hit a rock or pothole.
Risk if Unfixed
If a toe link breaks, you might lose control of your vehicle, especially on uneven roads. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty toe links and adjuster fasteners with new, reinforced ones – completely free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, which was mailed on January 27, 2022.

These vehicles may have rear toe links that received an improper amount of electrocoating (e-coat) corrosion protection, which could cause the e-coat to become brittle and break away when contacted by road debris. Over time, the e-coat may chip away, exposing the metal toe link and making it more susceptible to corrosion. Corrosion may eventually cause the toe link to thin and ultimately fracture.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A rear toe link fracture may reduce the driver's ability to control the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

SUSPENSION:REAR

Manufacturer
General Motors, LLC
What Happened
The rear toe link is like a metal rod that connects your rear wheels to your vehicle's suspension. In some 2012-2013 Buick Regal, 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, and 2010-2013 Buick Lacrosse models, the protective coating on the toe link can break away when hit by debris, exposing it to corrosion.
Risk if Unfixed
If the toe link corrodes and breaks, it could cause your rear wheels to lose alignment, making it harder to steer your vehicle. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the rear suspension toe links and adjuster fasteners with new ones that are resistant to corrosion, completely free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible when you receive the recall notice.
