Component
POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:SHAFT:INPUT
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The input shaft in your motorcycle's transmission is like a long rod that helps connect your engine to the gears. In some 2019-2023 BMW models, this shaft can be damaged or break apart under certain conditions.
Risk if Unfixed
If the input shaft fails, it could block your rear wheel, making it hard to control your bike. This increases the risk of a crash, which could put you and others in danger.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the computer system that controls your engine with new software, free of charge. You should schedule this update at your earliest convenience, especially if you've received a recall notice by mail.
