Component
POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:SHAFT:INPUT
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The input shaft in your motorcycle's transmission is a crucial part that connects the engine to the gears. In some 2019-2023 R1250GS, R1250GS Adventure, and R1250RTP models, this shaft can become damaged or break.
Risk if Unfixed
If the input shaft fails, the rear wheel can lock up, making it harder to control your motorcycle. This increases the risk of a crash, which could result in injury or damage.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealership will update the engine control unit software to prevent this issue, and it's completely free. You should schedule the update as soon as you receive the recall notice.
