Component
POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:SHAFT:INPUT
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The gearbox input shaft in your motorcycle is like a long, thin rod that connects the engine to the transmission. In some 2019-2023 models, this shaft can get damaged or break while you're riding.
Risk if Unfixed
If the shaft fails, your rear wheel could lock up and you might lose control of your motorcycle, making it harder to steer and increasing the risk of a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update your motorcycle's computer to prevent this issue, and it's completely free. You should schedule the update when you receive the recall notice.
