Component
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
Your motorcycle's fuel pump is a key part that sends gasoline to your engine. In certain models (2005-2011 R, 2005-2012 K, 2010-2011 S 1000, 2006-2010 HP2), this pump's flange can crack and leak fuel over time.
Risk if Unfixed
If the flange cracks and leaks fuel, you risk a fire if there's an ignition source nearby. This could cause serious damage to your motorcycle and potentially harm you.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect and either reinforce or replace the fuel pump flange to prevent leaks, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair when you receive the recall notice.
