What Happened
The TurboCord Portable Charger is a device that helps charge your car when it's parked. But in some 2018-2019 BMW models, the capacitors inside this charger can fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the capacitors fail, you could get an electrical shock or the charger could catch fire. This could lead to serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will check the charger and replace it if it's faulty — at no cost to you. They'll do this as soon as possible, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2018 BMW 330e iPerformance, i3 Rex, i3 Sport Rex, X5 xDrive40e, i3 BEV, i3 Sport BEV and 2019 i8 and i8 Roadster vehicles and 2018-2019 530e iPerformance, 530e xDrive iPerformance and 740Le xDrive iPerformance vehicles. Capacitors within the TurboCord Portable Chargers may fail, possibly resulting in a shock hazard or a fire.

What Happened
The Electric Motor Electronics (EME) module is the brain of your hybrid powertrain, controlling the flow of high-voltage electricity to your electric motor. In some 2019 i3 and i8 models, this module's circuit board could malfunction.
Risk if Unfixed
If the EME module fails, you could lose all power to your vehicle's electric motor. This would leave you stranded, unable to move, and at risk of being hit by another vehicle.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty EME module with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2019 i3 BEV, i3 REx, and i8 vehicles. A circuit board problem within the Electric Motor Electronics (EME) module may shutdown the supply of high-voltage electrical power.
