Component
LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The door latch system in your high-end BMW models is supposed to keep your doors closed and secure, but it might not work as intended. This can happen if you have the Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic options.
Risk if Unfixed
If the door latch fails, your door could open unexpectedly while you're driving or parked. This could cause an occupant to be thrown out of the vehicle or increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Free Fix
BMW will update the door latch system at no cost to you. Your dealer will perform the repair, and you should schedule it as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.
