ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:STARTER ASSEMBLY

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The starter assembly in your vehicle is the part that helps your engine start when you turn the key. In some 2019-2022 models, it can get too hot and overheat from too many attempts to start the car.
Risk if Unfixed
If the starter motor overheats, it could catch nearby flammable materials in the engine area on fire, which could cause a serious accident.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the starter assembly with a new one that's designed to handle the heat, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, and if you've already had this repair done under a previous recall, you'll need to have it done again.
