AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The airbag inflator in your steering wheel is a critical safety feature that deploys in a crash to protect you. In some 2006-2011 3 Series vehicles, a specific type of steering wheel might have been installed with a faulty inflator that could fail catastrophically during an accident.
Risk if Unfixed
If this inflator explodes, it could send sharp metal fragments flying towards you, posing a serious risk of injury or even death. This is a life-threatening situation that requires immediate attention.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect your steering wheel and replace the faulty airbag module if necessary – at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.
